Lane closures expected to last through the summer; two full-service and three E-ZPass lanes remain open

Beginning on Wednesday, July 17, construction will continue along the eastbound Dulles Toll Road impacting the Main Toll Plaza. As a result, two center lanes will be closed for several consecutive weeks and occasional traffic congestion is expected.

During the closures, two full-service lanes on the right, two E-ZPass lanes on the left and one E-ZPass lane on the right will remain open eastbound. Please see below for more detailed information.

Customers should follow new directional signage and be prepared for delays during high-volume travel times. All work is weather dependent and subject to change.

Dulles Toll Road Eastbound

When:             Wednesday, July 17, 2019

What:              Multi-Lane Shutdown

Where:            Main Toll Plaza, between Exits 16 and 17

Toll Lane:        Two center lanes (lanes 3 and 4)

To mitigate the traffic impacts, motorists are encouraged to:

  • Have exact change ready if using the full-service lanes.
  • Adjust your morning commute by arriving at the main toll plaza before 8:00 a.m. or after 10:00 a.m.
  • Please be patient. We are working to provide a minimally disruptive driving experience and a safe construction zone for workers.

Following the two initial lane closures, an announcement will be made on lane closures for lanes 1, 2 and 3 later this summer.

To register for E-ZPass, drivers can visit www.ezpassva.com. Instructions for E-ZPass on the Go can be found at: https://www.ezpassva.com/EZPages/OnTheGo.aspx.

Please drive carefully! Drivers are asked to use caution and pay attention to all signage, police direction and barricades. Lane shutdowns will alternate throughout the project, impacting traffic seven days a week, 24-hours per day. Delays are expected.
